Killay 1 – Llangain 7

Killay welcomed back Bomber and Darnell for this senior cup match against first division outfit Llangain and also drafted in Spud as he decided to return from school this weekend.

The conditions were good and the pitch had worn well considering some of the showers that we had in the previous week. The team were fairly confident and were only really missing Bubbles (who was ill although it is also rumoured to be his girlfriends birthday and he wanted quality time with her!!!).

The match kicked off and Killay had a terrible start. After 10 minutes they were 2-0 down due to bad control from the forwards, giving the ball away in midfield, poor defending at the back and a keeper who was stuck to his line (probably to do with the tape around his boot).

Killay then started to play a bit but were again caught out and this made the score 3-0 to Llangain. The last 20 minutes of the first half saw Killay having plenty of possession and this led to another goal from the deadly Harding whom toe poked it in from a few yards out, Killay 1 Llangain 3.

Killay continued to dominate the rest of the half but failed to capitalise on some good football and some good grafting from Stonesy, Bomber and Trewy in the midfield.

The second half started and Killay were continuing to play some good football but lack of quality end ball and bad passing led to Llangain breaking away and scoring on a number of occasions leaving Meatloaf with little chance of away of them.

Killay didn’t give up and continued to play and for 20 to 30 minutes of the second half had Llangain rattled and were by far the better side, attacking at every opportunity yet lack of quality end ball was their downfall.

The final whistle went and the score line was very flattering towards Llangain who deserved the win but not by the margin they did. Killay however need to take the good things from the game and build on what can be a promising side that is missing a couple of players and a sense of desire to win.

Final score: Killay 1 – Llangain 7

Verdict: A disappointing game that Killay needed to start well, they didn’t and paid the price. Some good attacking moments for Killay and a promising new player in Sparks.

MOM: No nominations.

Coconut: Meatloaf for the state of his boots (that’s about as entertaining as the game was !).
